Research at Harmony Spiritus forms the foundation of our experiences, offerings, and practices. It is where the ancient knowledge of Anatolia and Mesopotamia is studied, interpreted, and brought into contemporary frameworks for listening, ritual, and embodied well-being.

Bridging 10,000 years of healing wisdom with today’s wellbeing science.

Our current research agenda focuses on three interconnected areas:

Sumerian figurine with incense and prayer beads

Sumerian Mythology as Storytelling

Exploring early mythological narratives as living frameworks for meaning, memory, and ritual transmission. This research informs how story, symbolism, and narrative structure shape our experiences and practices today.

Anatolian Soundscapes for Relaxation and Focus

Investigating traditional modes, rhythms, and acoustic environments from Anatolia and their effects on attention, calm, and nervous system regulation. This work directly informs our soundscapes, guided sessions, and listening practices.

Traditional Anatolian instrument and acoustic landscape

Sacred water in ritual with stone vessel or spring

Water and Ritual

Studying the cultural, sensory, and symbolic role of water in ritual traditions of Anatolia and Mesopotamia — from springs and baths to sound, flow, and reflection — and how these elements support grounding, renewal, and transition.

Our research is not conducted in isolation. Insights from each area feed directly into the design of our soundscapes, experiences, educational programs, and material offerings, ensuring that practice remains rooted in depth, context, and continuity.

Within the Harmony Spiritus pillars of Remember, Reawaken, Acknowledge, and Practice, research is the process through which traditions of Anatolia and Mesopotamia are remembered, reawakened through study, acknowledged in their cultural and historical context, and translated into forms that can be practiced today. By unearthing these narratives, soundscapes, and ritual systems, our research seeks to contribute knowledge with relevance beyond place — offering insights that support universal approaches to well-being rooted in continuity, care, and lived experience.
